Series: Light and Memory in the Landscape of Soconusco In this work I portray an everyday moment in a tropical garden: a hummingbird approaching the flowers of heliconia, one of the plants that most attract these small birds for their abundant nectar. The heliconias, with their intense red bracts, rise among large green leaves, forming a natural refuge within the landscape of Soconusco. The scene is inspired by one of my grandmother’s gardens. The wall that appears in the background, reflecting the sunlight, belongs to that family space where plants grow freely and where it is common to see hummingbirds visiting the flowers throughout the day.
