This work was born from a very special trip I took last year on my birthday. As a gift, my husband took me to the mountains of Mineral del Chico, Hidalgo: a place known for its pine forests, historic mining landscapes, and rich vegetation. During our walk I was struck by the intensity of the green: lush trees, scattered apple trees, wildflowers, and a small river crossing through the landscape. The sound of the water and the humidity of the forest created a calm, almost intimate atmosphere, where nature seemed to envelop everything. In the painting I sought to capture that feeling of vegetal abundance and the movement of water among the stones. The foliage is built through layers of brushstrokes that evoke the density of the forest, while the river opens a luminous path that guides the eye through the landscape. The gold leaf appears in the background as a presence of light, suggesting the glow of sunlight filtering through the trees of the mountain. Rather than depicting a precise place, the painting preserves the emotional memory of that day: a moment of celebration, joy, and gratitude that remained engraved in my memory.
